The city of Milton, Ga was first introduced to become a new city in January of 2005 with an intent of moving the bill forward in January 2006. On March 9th, 2006, the bill creating the new city of Milton passed in the house (127-21) and passed in the Senate (49-0). The city’s first general election of Mayor was held on Tuesday, November 7th, 2006. They have since had three more with the next scheduled for November, 2013.
From a vision standpoint, the City of Milton was a ‘distinctive community embracing small-town life and heritage while preserving and enhancing our rural character’.
In 2011, the City of Milton was recognized as having the highest quality of life in the state of Georgia and the 9th highest quality of life in the southern United States by the Business Journals “on numbers” survey.
Elementary schools include Birmingham Falls elementary, Cogburn Woods Elementary, Crabapple Crossing Elementary and Summit Hill Elementary. All are in the top of Georgia elementary school rankings.
Middle schools include Hopewell Middle and Northwestern Middle Schools. Both are in the top of Georgia middle school rankings.
High schools include Milton High School and Cambridge High School. Both are in the top of Georgia high school rankings and US high school rankings.
Private Schools include Kings Ridge, Chandler Academy, Mill Springs Academy, and St Francis High School.
